With ideal soils and a dry desert climate, Red Mountain produces some of the most compelling and distinctive red wines in the New World. Situated at the western edge of Red Mountain, on a bluff overlooking the Yakima River, Klipsun is a warm and windswept site that yields profoundly concentrated Caberenet Sauvignons. Made from vines planted in 1984 and 1989, this block and barrel selection of our finest wines from Klipsun Vineyard display alluring perfumed aromas and gorgeous layers of black cherry, red plum, sarsaparilla, cigar box and sweet tobacco leaf.

Winemaker Notes
This beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon bursts forth with dark-fruit aromas of blueberry, black plum, and blackberry cobbler, with lifted notes of violet and pomegranate, as well as hints of chocolate and marmalade. On the palate it is lush and hedonic, with voluptuous, mouthcoating layers of dark berries, robust, savory tannins and hints of cedar and sweet tobacco leaf that drive the wine to a rich and sophisticated finish.
Production
Heavy winter snowfall in 2019 led to well-irrigated soils and a late budbreak. The relatively cool weather continued throughout spring and summer with temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s, and only a few days over 100º F. This allowed for beautiful flavor development balanced by ideal acid retention, producing elegant and age-worthy wines with lovely energy and character, supple tannins and bright, juicy flavors.
